About

My name is Vaishali Iyer and I’m a somatic coach based in Bangalore. I work with individuals and groups, offering a unique, body-oriented approach and crafting customised practices to support wellness, recovery, creativity and growth.

The heart of my coaching is the central role of the felt body (or life force) in all aspects of life. I teach you how to harmonise with your innate biological intelligence—so that you gain a fuller understanding and awareness of yourself beyond just your thoughts and mind. Through somatic work, I help you access your inner ground and energy, so that you can heal, adapt and flourish in life.

My areas of specialization include breath retraining, nervous system regulation, menstrual cycle awareness and somatic movement and meditation. I have trained extensively in each of these areas and have over 10 years of experience teaching and coaching through the use of movement, breath, touch, sensory experience and more.

My background is in yoga and various forms of movement including dance, swimming, natural movement and qigong, as well as meditation. I’ve been practicing, teaching and continuously learning within the fields of somatics, movement, and meditation since 2011, and have close to 1000 hours of formal training. I first started teaching yoga in the UK in 2012. Between 2015 and 2023, I lived in Singapore, where I led public classes, events and workshops at studios like Yoga in Common and Space2B.

I’m certified in Hatha Yoga, Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra, and I’m an experienced restorative yoga teacher. I’ve also trained in Laban/Bartenieff Movement as a Movement Analyst and Somatic Movement Educator, as well as in Body-Mind Centering©. I’m a certified Instinctive Meditation™ teacher, a Total Immersion swimming coach, and a certified Oxygen Advantage® Functional Breathing Instructor.

Below you can find out more about how and where I’ve trained, and who has shaped my evolution as a practitioner. Some of the names on these lists are people I learned from directly, while others influenced my path profoundly but indirectly through their books, programs or institutes. These lists are by no means exhaustive. In putting them together, I gratefully acknowledge the gift of knowledge that I have received from these and many other sources.
