Ease + Flow: A 7-Day Somatic Reset

what

This 7-day online somatic reset will help you get in touch with yourself on a daily basis. It brings together practices and practitioners from the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, breathwork, and meditation. Through these body-oriented approaches, we will explore breath, movement/stillness, posture, gravity, sense perception, and more.

Each day, you will be guided through a short and sweet practice around the theme of ‘ease and flow’. Practices will be 20–30 minutes in length, and designed for you to integrate into your everyday life. You will learn to foster ease, expansion, connection, and grounding, and to reduce stress, fatigue, and pain in yourself.

This programme is suitable for anyone aged 16+. Beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome. Practices will be offered in English. All sessions will be recorded and the recordings shared with you at the end of each day.

why

We’ve put together this offering to give you a chance to experience many different kinds of somatic practices in a short window of time. We’re also very excited about this format, because it creates a container for consistent daily practice. The overall focus of this weeklong series is to show you the power of connecting with your body and yourself in small and simple ways every day. Join us to feel softer, more easeful and more expansive—in just 20 minutes a day!

Monday 28 AprilAll three/DayitaEasy restingIn the first session, we will introduce the workshop, ourselves, and our approaches to you. This will be followed by a guided constructive rest practice.
Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or a beginner, constructive rest can be a useful addition to your day – it is a way to prepare or recover. You will learn to tune into your patterns of thought and movement while at rest. This will set you up to take care of yourself during more active moments.
Tuesday 29 AprilVaishaliBreathe easyThis session will introduce you to the idea of ‘less is more’ when it comes to breathing. Find ways to breathe that are simple, restful and aligned with your body’s needs. And discover where you might be overexerting or blocking yourself from accessing the gentle nourishment of your own breath.
Wednesday 30 AprilDayitaEasy sittingIn this session, we will explore conscious sitting. Most of us sit a lot during the day, and don’t always do so mindfully. The focus of this session will be on finding necessary support so that your musculoskeletal framework can be in easy balance.
Thursday 1 MayKaruEasy standingIf you’ve ever gotten tired or had pain while standing in a queue or at an event, this session will help you move your attention and make small changes to feel more supported and find different possibilities while being upright.
Friday 2 MayVaishaliSenses at easeThis practice is all about orienting to the natural pleasures of the senses. We will explore several of our external and internal senses to bring us into an enjoyable present-moment experience. Perfect for working with anxiety and overstimulation. Optional: have with you a favourite scent, drink or food.
Saturday 3 MayKaruEasy optionsThe focus of this session is on generating choice by altering perspective, attention, or focus. While we will use movement in the lesson to explore this idea, you will gain tools to apply in other areas of life including emotional situations, interactions, or decisions.
Sunday 4 MayAll threeWrap up/relay practiceThe last session of the week will include a ‘relay’ practice led in turn by all three of us. After this we will invite you to ask questions or share observations from the previous six days of short and sweet practices.
